I know trick-or-treating is synonymous with candy, but sometimes you just want something more fun! It is no secret in my neighborhood that I am a bit *extra* when it comes to all things crafty, decoration, holiday, or party related. I also know there are a few kids in our neighborhood with peanut allergies, so I wanted to make sure I had some options for everyone. A little brainstorming, and some party inspiration from my friend @lacedesignsstudio_ led me down the path of custom Play-Doh containers. Want to make your own? Here's how I made mine...
Supplies:
- Mini Play-Doh Cans- 1 oz size
- Printable Glitter Paper or Sticker Paper
- I'm using White Diamond Print Inkjet Glitter Paper
- Printer
- Electronic Die Cutting Machine OR Scissors
- Halloween Play-Doh® Label Printable
- Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks
I won't bore you with all the math involved in making this label curve exactly right, but let's just say it took more time that I care to admit. 😂 I'm going to save you all that headache and let you have my template for FREE because I think Halloween joy is meant to be spread!
If you're cutting your labels by hand, download the 8.5 x 11 inch PDF version linked above and print the number of pages you need for the number of cans you have. Then, carefully cut along the edges of each lable and lid piece with scissors. This is a great activity to do while you watch TV and unwind at the end of the day, and even be a bit therapeutic.
If you have a Cricut and a printer, using the print-then-cut method will save you quite a bit of time. Download both PNG files for Cricut that are linked in the supplies and upload them to a new Design Space canvas. When you upload it, your images will start out too large. While keeping the aspect ratio locked, resize the curved label image to 7.32 inches wide. Resize the circle lid labels image to 6.75 inches wide.

If you have a red exclamation point in your layers panel, click to resolve it for your particular machine. **DISCLAIMER- I have made these on a Cricut Explore Air 2 and a Cricut Maker with these measurements. Your machine may be different, so please do a test before cutting a large amount!**
I printed mine with the bleed setting on so I wouldn't end up with white edges if they don't cut exactly right. Once your pages are printed, run them through your Cricut to cut your shapes.

Using hot glue, adhere the labels to the sides and tops of your Play-Doh jars in whatever combinations you choose. I chose to make my tops and sides different, but you can make them matching if you prefer.

That's it! Now you're ready to hand these out as party favors! I handed these out last year and everyone LOVED them, even the teenagers! I can't wait to hang them out again this year, maybe with some new designs.
(A quick note- if you are handing these out to trick-or-treaters, PLEASE make sure they know these are Play-Doh and are not edible, and do not hand them out to children who are too young to have them.)
